Emergency Field Hospital Takes Shape in Los Angeles County

CALIFORNIA — Samaritan’s Purse is preparing to open an Emergency Field Hospital in Lancaster, California, to care for people suffering from COVID-19. A Disaster Assistance Response Team is already on the ground, with more personnel en route.

On January 11, 2021 their DC-8 cargo jet airlifted much of the equipment needed for the hospital to Southern California. The tents have already been set up after being transported by a Samaritan’s Purse tractor trailer from their warehouse in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.

The mobile unit of 50-plus beds will receive patients in the parking lot of Antelope Valley Hospital, their local medical partner. Patients treated at their site will be limited to those who are COVID-positive but do not need the support of a ventilator.

Edward Graham, Samaritan’s Purse:

Samaritan’s Purse has just arrived here in Lancaster, California. The field hospital has just arrived, and it’s being offloaded and being set up this week, where we can start serving the community here in California. This area has been decimated by coronavirus, and the hospital officials, the city officials, they have reached out and they have asked for help, to come out here and relieve some of the staff and the medical workers that have just been overcome by this virus.

So we’re fortunate and blessed to serve in the Name of Jesus Christ with this equipment and the people, the doctors and nurses, that come alongside and partner with the Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Assistance Response Team. We have incredible people, and we’re excited to serve here in the Name of Jesus Christ. My prayer and my biggest hope that we have here serving is the Samaritan’s Purse team gets to be part of a miracle, that we get to meet the immediate needs of the patients here, sharing the hope in the Name of Jesus Christ, but also the healing power that God’s entrusted us with medicine and the talent of our staff. Thank you.
