Outreach will bring live music and a life-changing message of hope to the southern border

CHARLOTTE, NC — Franklin Graham is going to the U.S.-Mexico border to share a message of God’s love. The upcoming tour is kicking off with an opening weekend in Brownsville, Texas, on Feb. 24 and McAllen, Texas, on Feb. 25. The Frontera Tour will visit 10 cities, starting at the Gulf of Mexico and going all the way to the Pacific, where it will end in Chula Vista, California.

In the Texas Gulf Coast region, more than 260 churches are working with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) to bring these exciting evenings of music and hope to the Rio Grande Valley.

“We are coming to the southern border because it is one of the neediest areas of our country at this time, and people need to hear a message of hope,” said Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. “Everyone along the border is overwhelmed—the churches, the law enforcement agencies, the residents, those there trying to help, as well as the people coming into our country. There are a lot of hungry hearts and hurting people, so I’m coming to the border to tell everyone about God’s Son, Jesus Christ, and how He can make a difference in our lives if we put our faith and our trust in Him.”

Over 1,000 churches in Texas, Arizona and California are partnering with BGEA for this 10-city tour because they want to reach their communities with a message of God’s love.

The opening events in Brownsville and McAllen are free and everyone is invited to attend. On Feb. 24, live music will begin at 5 p.m. at the Brownsville Sports Park. On the following day in McAllen, music begins at 4 p.m. at Payne Arena.

“The message of the God Loves You Frontera Tour will offer hope to the hopeless, purpose to the lost and redemption to the broken,” said Abraham Moreno, pastor of Calvary Chapel in McAllen. “This is a message that heals wounds, restores broken lives, and provides a way for people to experience a personal relationship with God’s Son, Jesus Christ.”

Steve Dorman, pastor of First Baptist Church in Brownsville, said, “Brownsville is one of the most impoverished areas in the U.S., and it is quite transitory since it is located on the Texas-Mexico border. We want everyone in this community to know that God is always with them and loves them, and the Gospel can be a stabilizing force to help them in their lives.”

Iconic Spanish-speaking Christian music artist, Marcos Witt, will perform in Spanish and English at each tour stop. He has received six Latin Grammys and two Billboard awards. Taya, formerly of Hillsong UNITED and best known for “Oceans,” one of the most popular songs in Christian music history, will also perform. Award-winning musician Dennis Agajanian, who has performed at Billy Graham’s and Franklin Graham’s evangelistic events for more than 45 years, will be joining the tour as well.
