Meeting Ongoing Needs in Turkey

BELEN, TURKEY — Beyza* and her family began sleeping on the street in front of their apartment building after it was badly damaged during the Feb. 6 earthquakes. A few weeks later, they were still living on the street—with no place else to go—when they met a Samaritan’s Purse team who offered them an emergency shelter tent.Samaritan’s Purse is working with a local partner in Turkey to distribute and assemble tents for families like Beyza’s, and this emergency shelter is meeting urgent needs for those who are suffering and struggling to find a way forward in the earthquake disaster’s aftermath.

Paul Carr:

Hi, my name is Paul Carr.

I’m here with Samaritan’s Purse in the region of Hatay, Turkey, where just four weeks ago a 7.8 and a 7.5 earthquake hit this area and left 3 million people displaced.

Through our partnership with First Hope Association and with support of the Turkish government, today we’re here in Belen and we’re currently offloading the 100 tents which will be used. There’s shelters for 100 families who are currently without shelter.

The people of Turkey are really hurting since this disaster, so we just ask you to continue to keep them in your prayers.
