PLANO, TX – Prestonwood CARES, a ministry of Prestonwood Missions at Prestonwood Baptist Church, has created 1,200 “School Paks” for area students in need, equipping them with necessary school supplies for the new school year. Each “School Pak” backpack includes a box of crayons, a box of Crayola® markers, a box of Crayola® colored pencils, yellow highlighters, Elmer’s® glue sticks, #2 pencils, a package of black pens, plastic rulers, assorted colored pocket folders, a spiral notebook and hand sanitizer. Approximately 800 “School Paks” were distributed across Collin and Denton counties and 400 were distributed in Dallas County.
“We’ve had the opportunity to minister to school-aged children and their parents or guardians in this way for a number of years, and we are always amazed at the incredible generosity of our church volunteers and community members,” said Dr. Jack Graham, senior pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church.
Prestonwood Cares offered three ways for people to get involved in the creation of “School Paks”: purchasing supplies online, donating to collection bins at Prestonwood Church campuses in Plano, Prosper and Lewisville, Texas, and volunteering with Grace Bridge to pack and distribute the backpacks.
