WILLS POINT, TX — The public viewing and funeral arrangements for KP Yohannan (Metropolitan Yohan), one of the world’s best-known Christian leaders and missiologists who died May 8, have been announced.
Yohannan, 74, died at a Dallas hospital following a traffic accident on May 7 near the Dallas-area campus of GFA World (www.gfa.org), the global mission organization he founded more than 40 years ago.
The public viewing will take place on Wednesday, May 15, from 4-8 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas. Anyone is welcome to attend, GFA World said.
Yohannan’s body will be transported to India for his funeral next week in Thiruvalla, Kerala, where the global headquarters of Believers Eastern Church is located.
Yohannan was the metropolitan, or head bishop, of the church.
According to the church’s website, there will be a public viewing in Thiruvalla on May 20, before the funeral service on Tuesday, May 21, at the St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church Cathedral.
The funeral service will be broadcast live online.
Church members are observing a 40-day mourning period.
In an obituary posted on the GFA World website, the organization paid tribute to Yohannan, saying: “His life was a ceaseless effort to live in light of eternity, sharing love and the hope of Christ with the masses and the individual. Millions across the globe were touched by his words and his example. Thousands experienced his personal care for them, as he invested in their lives.”
