Relief for Acapulco

ACAPULCO, MEXICO — Samaritan’s Purse is providing relief, clean water, tons of food, and thousands of tarps to hurting homeowners in Acapulco following the devastation caused by Hurricane Otis.

It was surreal, the amount of devastation, destruction. It was, dear God, how did these people survive?

Samaritan’s Purse has been involved in Acapulco. We’ve distributed over 100 metric tons of food, thousands of tarps, clean water buckets.

John SchultzSamaritan’s Purse:

Right now, the city’s water sources all throughout Acapulco have been damaged by the storm. Our wash teams are providing clean water where individuals can come and get as much as they need to have clean, safe drinking water and cooking water for all of their needs.

Paulo NunesSamaritan’s Purse:

When we come with food, when we come with tarps, when we come with trained chaplains, we’re pointing to Jesus. It’s evident to us that we can create a big impact. We have a wonderful team, But our time will eventually end, and it’s up to the church to continue the work.

Milton HeredraPastor:

The economy situation was kind of hard. At the church, we cleaned the well. Now they can come and get water for free. People is gonna ask why they do it. Freely we receive, freely we need to give to others.

Paulo:

You look at the field and it’s ripe. People are desperate for God.

Alejandro Hernandez:

The people, they lost a lot of things, much real things, but they don’t see the Lord. Pray for Acapulco, and everybody might know that the Lord is God. Even in our suffering, even in the disaster, God reigns.

John:

Please continue to pray for the people of Acapulco and the staff and volunteers of Samaritan’s Purse as God works in the lives and hearts of those that we are serving.
