In mid-October of 2016, 21 Chibok schoolgirls who were kidnapped were returned to their hometown by Boko Haram.
CNN reports, “The 21 Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped and released by terrorist group Boko Haram were reunited with their families amid tearful scenes on Sunday.”
It was a joyous celebration for many of the parents, yet it was also sad, because many of the parent’s girls were not returned.
BBC explains, “One parent said:‘We thank God. I never thought I was going to see my daughter again but here she is… Those who are still out there – may God bring them back to be reunited with their parents.’”
The girls are now undergoing counseling.
Al Jazeera reports, “Eleanor Nwadinobi, women and girls manager at the Nigeria Stability and Recognition Programme, said the girls will now undergo treatment which must be tailored to individual needs, including trauma counselling and health and nutritional requirements.”
Christian Aid Missions is reaching the people of Nigeria with Christ’s hope.
One Christian Aid missionary said, “‘We will help them build their huts and roofs, and then use this opportunity to provide the gospel among them,’” he said. “‘Many Muslims who are disenchanted with Islam are asking to go with these people for resettlement.’”
Please pray for the Christian Aid missionaries in Nigeria, that they would be able to show Christ’s joy to the people. Also pray for more of the Chibok girls would be returned.
