MATAMOROS, MEXICO — Thousands of migrants continue to arrive at the United States border seeking asylum. In an improvised migrant camp in Matamoros, Mexico, a gifted Bible changes the life of a Venezuelan child.

Joseph Rendón:

I learned that if one has confidence in God, everything is possible.

The faith in Christ Jesus reaches the heart of a Venezuelan migrant child who lives in an improvised migrant camp in Matamoros, Mexico, where thousands of migrants arrive with the hope of being able to enter the United States.

Joseph:

The other time they gave me a bible, as such they were giving it to adults, but I asked for one and they gave it to me.

And there are times when I start reading it, whether in the morning or in the afternoon.

At least 5,000 migrants who remain in this improvised camp are desperate and worried about their future, not knowing what will happen to their immigration procedures.

Man:

God does not test his warrior with something that we cannot overcome, for something God does not have.

And while they live in precarious and unhealthy conditions, exposed to extreme weather and criminal elements, there is Joseph Rendón, 12 years old, who is hungry and thirsty for justice, which he says is satisfied by reading the word of God.

Joseph:

As the Romans say, we all sin, that there is no one righteous, everyone has turned away from the path of God. And since the wages of sin is death, just as Jesus Christ died on the cross for the payment of our sins.

To respond to this border crisis, ministries and churches such as Río Grande Bible Church in McAllen, Texas, go to migrant shelters and camps to provide humanitarian aid, to listen to them and pray with them, and to guide them to faith in Christ Jesus, delivering Bibles and New Testaments, the spiritual food so necessary among the migrant community.

Joseph:

See that I command you to be strong and courageous.

Beyond the humanitarian needs and the security of their physical and mental integrity, the Venezuelan child says that reading the Bible gives him peace with God through faith in Christ Jesus.

Joseph:

I told him to forgive me for all my sins and to enter my heart to be with him wherever I go.

Receiving the word of God through a New Testament or a Bible comes as a bread of life, giving encouragement among migrants who suffer when crossing several borders.

Man 2:

Of course, not only in the immigrant community, but throughout the world, since only he has words of eternal life for their salvation.

But the only one who can understand them, they tell us, is the one who was also despised and rejected, that Jesus known as a man of sorrows and experienced in brokenness.

Man 2:

Do not be afraid and never, never deny the love of Christ, because there are times when we do not understand things as human beings, but God has a purpose for each and every one of us in this hour.

And that Jesus is the one who now lives in the heart of little Joseph.
