Children’s Charity Launches Education is Power Campaign

UNITED KINGDOM — It is a sad fact that, globally, the number of children and adolescents who do not have access to school education is 260 million, nearly four times the entire population of the
UK. In response Christian children’s charity CRY is launching their Back To School Education is Power campaign to highlight how knowledge is helping young people break out of the cycle of poverty.

Knowledge is key. So even though you may not attend university, still find time to pick up a book and read. Our purpose on this earth is to teach, learn from those who left a legacy and educate the next generation on who they can potentially be.

That’s the voice of London-based spoken artist Texikiya Unico, who’s partnered with Christian charity CRY as part of their Back to School Education is Power campaign to highlight how they’re helping to break children out of poverty in some of the neediest parts of the globe. The charity supports groundbreaking educational projects in 19 different countries, including Afghanistan, Ukraine, South Sudan, Peru and Laos. CRY’s Aime Gotte explains more.

Aime GotteProject Development Manager:

There is about 260 million children worldwide that are not in school right now. At CRY, one of the things that we want to do is to, actually our main aim and our main goal is to break the chain of poverty for children and we implement different strategies in order to do that and one of them is to provide educational opportunities for children in the global south that cannot go to school. And so through this campaign we’re really hoping to raise awareness, to raise the profile of some of our project partners that are doing some ground-breaking educational work in some of the toughest place on Earth.

And as well as providing a way out of poverty, CRY believes education is a way to showcase God’s love to some of the most vulnerable children on the planet.

Wisdom is a true measure of a queen and king.
