Praising God in Alabama

WELLINGTON, AL — Homeowner Tessa Sims praises God for His provision through Samaritan’s Purse volunteers to help with clean up in her Alabama community after tornadoes devastated the area.

Tessa Sims, Homeowner:

My daddy was my first knight in shining armor. My dad taught me what a father should be. He was the best example of a father and taught me what my Heavenly Father will do for me as well. My dad was my world. I was definitely a daddy’s girl.

Three years ago, Samaritan’s Purse came to this exact piece of land and helped my dad. There were so many trees down, and he was so devastated by it. And then when your crew came and helped him cut those trees, and they cut a cross in one of the trees he loved.

He was very blessed by Samaritan’s Purse, and he was just so thankful that you had been here to help him. You gave him a Bible when you left and he kept it. He loved it. He was so proud of it. I know he definitely would be so touched to know that people are back to help again.

The tornado came through, and the devastation was phenomenal. There are houses that are absolutely just blown to bits. Trees down everywhere, so many houses just absolutely destroyed, just devastation.

Keeth Willingham, Samaritan’s Purse:

Samaritan’s Purse volunteers are going to go and minister to these folks and give them an encouraging word, help them with their property, help them clean up. But let them know there’s a God who loves them and cares for them, and we’re here to be a blessing.

Tessa Sims:

Samaritan’s Purse is here, and we see all those orange shirts over there working, putting tarps up, and they help clear debris. They do so much. And it is just so helpful for everyone involved. And it’s just a blessing to know that they’re here.

Cindy and Mike Baker, Volunteers:

Today is our 40th anniversary, and we are volunteering with Samaritan’s Purse in Alabama.

It’s a chance to show the love of God, the love of Jesus. This is what we plan to do in retirement ‘til we can’t anymore.

Tessa Sims:

It’s awesome to have the orange shirts back. We are so proud and so appreciative. Samaritan’s Purse has made a phenomenal impact on this whole community. It’s just special to know that you are still out there, that you come and you send people from all over to help, and all over to just touch people’s lives. And I know no matter what comes my way, my Heavenly Father is going to provide for me. And one of the ways my Heavenly Father has provided for me is by sending Samaritan’s Purse to help.
