Healing Hearts, Finding Jesus in Bolivia

BOLIVIA — Children’s Heart Project arranges critical cardiac surgeries for boys and girls in countries where the operations are not readily available. Children and parents in Bolivia tell how their lives have been transformed through the ministry.

Congenital Heart Disease are defects in the heart. Therefore, these children do not have a long life expectancy. Once they have had surgery, you can see the impact it has on their families.

Daniela AcostaSamaritan’s Purse:

Children’s Heart Project has been working for over 25 years, helping over 1,500 children around the world. The goal is to demonstrate God’s heart to these children and their families that need heart surgery. Through Children’s Heart Project, we seek to connect children who need a surgery to renowned hospitals and to local church families that host them during their stay.

Priscila De La TorreSamaritan’s Purse:

Once they have traveled, had the surgery, you see the impact it has had on these families. It grows them not only physically but spiritually.

Fatima Ramos CardozoChildren’s Heart Project Recipient:

When the doctor told me that I would be able to live life like a normal person with no more heart problems. I felt extremely happy I could life a full life being with my daughter and not worrying that I would only have a year or two left to live. I had had so much spiritual support from learning of Jesus and the Bible studies that we have been attending. I’ve had so much help. I have given my life to the Lord.

Madelyn Nihan Silva CondoriDaughter:

They are going to heal me.

Yudith Condori BalboaMother:

“I’m going to get an operation aren’t I” my daughter would ask. I would say, “Yes, daughter, but you’re going to be healed afterward. God is going to heal you.” And her brother would chip in and say, “That’s right, God is great, He will heal my sister.” We are going to get back from there, and I know my daughter will be well. They will be able to play and do the same things. Play soccer, jump, run. I’m coming back with my daughter healed.

Daniela:

My hope for them is that they not only find a new life through heart surgery, but most importantly that they find Jesus. What keeps us moving forward is understanding God’s heart for these people. How much God loves them. How God takes a family from the middle of nowhere, across the world. through a heart defect, to say “I love you.”
