Billy Kim & Luis Palau Inducted into NRB Hall of Fame

NASHVILLE – Dr. Billy Kim and evangelist Luis Palau were honored at the opening of the National Religious Broadcasters annual convention in Nashville. The two renowned and highly-respected preachers were co-inductees into the NRB Hall of Fame.

The two join a list of a veritable “Who’s Who” in Christian broadcasting that includes Ray Ortmund, Chuck Colson, Kay Arthur, Joni Eareckson Tada, John MacArthur, R.C. Sproul, and W.A. Criswell.

NRB President and CEO, Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, introduced Dr. Kim as “a winsome evangelist for his Lord Jesus Christ, and a model for Christian communicators across the globe.”

According to the NRB press release, “Dr. Kim is a pastor, evangelist, and broadcaster who has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ all over the world to thousands of people in all walks of life. He currently serves as pastor emeritus of the 15,000-member Central Baptist Church in Suwon, South Korea, where he has served 45 years as pastor. He is also the chairman of the Far East Broadcasting Company in Korea, directing this network of 11 radio stations, of which two are high-powered AM transmitters sending the Gospel to China, Russia, Japan, and throughout Korea. In addition, he is the author of several books on Christian living, which are all published in Korean.”

Palau was unable to attend the convention as he is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Johnson noted that, “Honoring Luis with this prestigious award is especially poignant coming in the very week of the funeral of Billy Graham, the world-renown evangelist with whom Luis has so often been compared.”

Palau has been preached to tens of millions of people for over 60 years. He has led evangelistic crusades in 75 countries. “His ministry also includes an alliance of evangelists called Next Generation Alliance (NGA) that allows partner evangelists to collaborate, draw guidance, and resources from Palau’s vast experience, and become equipped to reach the world for Christ. More than 650 evangelists are currently involved in NGA.”

The annual NRB International Christian Media Convention is the largest nationally and internationally recognized event dedicated solely to assist those in the field of Christian communications.
