Remembering R.C. Sproul

SANFORD, Florida – The acclaimed apologist and distinguished defender of the faith, Dr. R.C. Sproul, has gone home to meet the Lord whom he loves and served for more than 60 years. He passed away just two months shy of his 78th birthday.

Perhaps best known for establishing Ligonier Ministries, he was gifted with a unique ability to awaken men and women around the world to our Creator’s majesty, holiness, and grace. His message was always clearly “Sola Scriptura. Sola Fide. Sola Gratia.” (By Scripture alone. By faith alone. By grace alone.)

His contributions to advancing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ cannot be measured in earthly terms. In addition to leading Ligonier Ministries, he was the principal teaching on the radio broadcast, Renewing Your Mind, the founding pastor of Saint Andrew’s Chapel in Sanford, Florida, the president of Reformation Bible College, the executive editor of Tabletalk magazine, and the general editor of the Reformation Study Bible.

The Ligonier website describes him as “the consummate happy warrior, his infectious humor and generous spirit on full display . . . (as he) “tirelessly labored to defend the sufficiency of God’s grace alone for our salvation as well as the trustworthiness of the Word of God.”

Although his ministry here is complete, he “now enjoys an unmediated view of the God whom he served and so longed to see.”.
