As Evangelist Luis Palau Faces His Final Days, His Son Andrew Carries on with the Work with Festival in Florida

MELBOURNE, FL — Just days after the news broke that world-renowned evangelist Luis Palau is in his final days of his battle with lung cancer, his son Andrew Palau carries on with the work as he prepares for an evangelistic festival this weekend in Brevard County, Florida.

As Luis Palau is in his final days of his battle with lung cancer, his son Andrew Palau carries on with the work in the Space Coast CItyfestThe evangelistic campaign—known as Space Coast CityFest—has been in the works for more than three years and is being led by more than 200 local churches and non-profit organizations. The goal, as with all Palau Festivals, is to serve the region and proclaim the Good News.

In addition to the free two-day festival at Space Coast Daily Park on Saturday and Sunday (March 6-7, 2021), multiple affinity events and smaller outreaches have been taking place throughout the region. They have included outreaches at local prisons, a youth rally, a gathering for first responders, a luncheon for business and civic leaders, as well as two evangelistic outreach events for women which were led by Andrew’s wife, Wendy. Hundreds have attended the events and many have responded to the Gospel invitation. The campaign has also included a region wide service effort known as CityServe, focusing on the most urgent and pressing social needs in the area.

The two-day, outdoor festival this weekend will feature award-winning artists Zach Williams, Casting Crowns, Mac Powell, Mandisa, Andy Mineo, and Social Club Misfits, as well as illusionist John Michael Hinton. It will also include a Family Fun Stage and action sports demonstrations from well-known skateboard, BMX, and freestyle motocross athletes. This will all lead up to a culminating moment on both Saturday and Sunday when Andrew Palau will share a clear message of hope and faith in Jesus Christ.

Space Coast CityFest was originally scheduled for March 2020. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Palau Association and local leaders decided to postpone the events until now. This will be the first live festival the Palau Association has held since the pandemic began. Although COVID-19 is not prevalent in the region, organizers are taking all the necessary precautions to keep attendees healthy and safe.

For more than 26 years Andrew Palau has worked alongside his father, Luis Palau, leading evangelistic efforts in cities across the world. Andrew has been instrumental in building the Palau Association’s model for citywide outreach as an evangelist, director, and key team leader. He has guided campaigns, led church relations efforts, trained thousands of believers in friendship evangelism, and proclaimed the Good News of Jesus Christ in person to hundreds of thousands of individuals around the world.

Andrew’s festivals have brought him and the Palau Association into partnership with thousands of churches in cities throughout Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, the Caribbean, and the United States of America. In addition to his father, Andrew’s own weekly radio broadcasts are heard by millions of people on thousands of radio outlets around the world. He is also the author of The Secret Life of a Fool, a retelling of his personal journey to faith in Christ, and What is Christmas?, a groundbreaking book published in China in 2012.

Over the past year as COVID-19 has rocked our world and left many people isolated, afraid, anxious, and confused, Andrew and his wife, Wendy, have also been instrumental in expanding Palau’s digital outreach efforts, leading their Hope with God initiative that saw more than 920,000 indicated commitments to Jesus Christ online last year. To date, nearly 20 million people have joined this online community. You can learn more at www.facebook.com/hopewithgodpage.
