How Do Children of the Persecuted Church Celebrate Christmas?

SYRIA — How do children of the persecuted church celebrate Christmas? Despite conflict and persecution, children around the world are determined to celebrate Christmas.

What are you doing for Christmas this year? It’s a question many of us are asking around the world. For children living in countries where believers are persecuted, it’s a question that reveals not only the traditions precious to them, but the strength of faith they have in the face of opposition and suffering. Open Doors interviewed these children to hear their hopes and expectations this Christmas.

Ahmad, Syria:

I wish for every Christmas that we are always gathered with joy. That we always stay one family, united not separated.

We asked young Christians around the world their hopes and prayers for Christmas.

Mary, Kenya:

My prayer is that our church would expand, as there are usually too many people for the church’s capacity on Christmas. I would like the church to expand for the people to fit.

Lian, Syria:

It means to me that King of king came to this earth to save us from our sins.

Elias, Syria:

I pray this Christmas brings joy to all the people.

Souk, Laos:

May God bless you this Christmas.
