Loving on Homeowners in Mississippi

ROLLING FORK, MISSISSIPPI — Samaritan’s Purse volunteers in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, are helping clean up properties after a fierce tornado swept through the area and damaged or destroyed homes. But mainly they are “loving on homeowners” as one volunteer said and sharing with them the hope of Christ.

Daniel GerardoVolunteer:

I’m Daniel with Samaritan’s Purse. I’m a team lead, and we’re here in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, assisting this community.

Kathleen WoodVolunteer:

We have had an EF4 tornado go through the town and just demolish it.

Vivian WellsHomeonwer:

This is my house here. For right after 845, it hit. And it’s just a blessing to be here. So many have lost their lives.

Elijah WashingtonHomeowner:

This is why I used to live in this particular spot, because my trailer, well, that’s it right there. You know, that’s all up right there.

Jimmy ChristmasHomeowner:

And after the third crunch, I fell in front of my couch. The next thing I knew, my roof was right on top of my head. This is the hole I crawled through right here.

Kathleen:

Samaritan’s Purse is here, and we’re out in numbers. We are tarping reefs. We are cutting up trees. We’re taking trees out of houses. We are hauling lots of debris, picking through piles of rubble. More importantly, loving on homeowners.

Jimmy:

I love it to death. Thank God for you all being here.

Elijah:

Yeah, the Lord works miracles in me. I felt like it’s a miracle that he took care of me.

Daniel:

The Bible tells us that to love Jesus with all heart, mind, and soul, and to love our neighbors as he has loved us. So that’s what we’re here to do. We’re just going to love on these people and remind them that God does love them.

Kathleen:

Pray for the people in Mississippi who’ve been affected by the tornadoes. Pray for the pastors that have to deal with the grief and the death. If you can come, and God leads you to come, you won’t regret it.
